The gallbladder, also known as the cholecyst, is a small hollow organ where bile is stored and concentrated before it is released into the small intestine.

This image is a cross section of it's wall. try to identify the following:

  • the luminal side of the gall bladder (the surface facing inwards)
  • the mucosa (tunica mucosa)
  • the muscular layer (tunica muscularis)
  • the subserosa
