What do you think are the main histological differences between the gallbladder and the small intestine?

  • the gallbladder does not have villi, only folds, which are never or rarely cut free from the substrate as villi will do.
  • the gallbladder also lacks lamina muscularis mucosae.
  • the muscle layer is not organized in an inner circular and outer longitudinal layer as in the intestine.
