Serous acinus of the parotid gland (600X)

Microimage

The serous cells look like small pyramids arranged around a lumen (seen in this image). The nuclei are situated basally in the cells and are quite large and round in shape. The acini are held together by a very thin connective tissue wherein fibroblasts reside.
