This is a magnification of the dentine. The unmineralized areas that constitute the interglobular dentine stains lighter than the surrounding dentine. Interglobular dentine can also be seen during the process of tooth formation (dentinogenesis).

There are numerous dentintubuli cut more or less across. In the image captured of the ground section of a premolar you can see dentintubuli cut longitudinally.
