Skeletal muscle with muscle spindle, transversal section (40X)

Microimage
Image copyright: Mathias Nordvi, ARR. (Tissue stain: Azan).

This is a transversal section of skeletal muscle. Because of the stain used, the connective tissue is colored blue, the muscle fibers orange and the blood red. The epimysium can be seen surrounding the whole muscle (for the most part). Within the muscle, the perimysium divides the muscle into fascicles. Each muscle fiber is surrounded by endomysium.
