Cap stage of tooth development (40X)

Microimage
Image copyright: Mathias Nordvi, ARR. (Tissue stain: Azan).

This tissue sample is from a frontal section of the head of a human fetus. In the maxilla, you can see the cap stage of a developing tooth. The dental papilla is jammed with cells.

As in the one of the other sections of the head of a human fetus, you can also find the inferior alveolar nerve (lat: n. alveolaris inferior) and some developing bone in this section.
