The tunica muscularis of the duodenum (40X)

This image shows the smooth muscle cells of the inner circular layer of the tunica muscularis of the duodenum. Notice that it is cut almost at a straight angle to the longitudinal axis of the cells, but only almost, making the nuclei look oval.
