Dentinogenesis and amelogenesis (100X)

A thin blue zone within the incisal part of the tooth bud, in between the ecto- and mesoderm (ie. the inner dental epithelium and the dental papilla), indicates that the dentinogenesis has begun. Dentinogenesis is the formation of dentine.
