Nasal side of the soft palate (200X)

On the nasal side, the epithelium consists of pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium with goblet cells. Goblet cells don't stain as much and are numerous on the nasal side.

On the oral side we find the lamina propria containing vascular beds and excretory ducts, while on the nasal side we find numerous mucous- and a few serous glands.
