What do tou think is the function of the parietal cells?

The parietal cells produce H + ions and intrinsic factor. The H + ions lower the pH of the ventricle and contribute to the breakdown of proteins. Intrinsic factor is required for the uptake of vitamin B12 in the ileum.

What is the function of the chief cells?

The chief cells produce pepsinogen, an inactive protease that is activated at low pH to pepsin. Pepsin is especially important for the breakdown of collagen.
