Here you can see Wharton's jelly with abundant, fibre-poor intercellular substance (very high water content) and undifferentiated mesodermal cells with a characteristic star shape (although that may not be so apparent in this picture). You can also see that the umbilical cord is covered by an epithelium. The epithelium belongs to the amnion that covers the umbilical cord.
