Prostate (adult)

Overview of the prostate (the section includes about a quarter of the whole gland). Many glands (pink) are spread out in the stroma (red). The stroma consists of connective tissue and smooth muscle. The prostate is covered by a capsule of connective tissue. Blood-filled veins (dark red) are seen undernetah the capsule. The darkly stained pink spots inside some of the glands are corpora amylacea.
